Project Overview

ZETATECH has successfully delivered a 1MW / 2MWh grid-tied C&I energy storage project in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, designed to support industrial energy cost optimization and renewable energy integration. The system enables flexible energy dispatch, solar PV coordination, and electricity trading strategies under a fully grid-connected architecture.

Key System Configuration:

Total System Capacity: 1MW / 2MWh

Battery Storage: 8 × ZetaCube 261kWh liquid-cooling battery cabinets

Power Conversion: 2 × integrated electrical cabinets (each housing 4 × 125kW PCS units)

System Integration: Multi-substation PV integration with Huawei & Sungrow inverter compatibility

Operating Mode: Pure grid-tied operation (no STS / no MPPT)

Key Challenges

The Ukraine C&I energy market is characterized by high volatility in electricity pricing and increasing demand for energy flexibility among industrial users. This project faced three core technical and operational challenges:

High Tariff Volatility: Fluctuating electricity tariffs required a system capable of executing real-time peak-valley arbitrage and energy trading strategies to significantly reduce operational costs.

Distributed Generation: The site featured distributed photovoltaic (PV) assets spread across multiple substations, requiring stable coordination between different inverter brands and control architectures.

System Reliability & Scalability: The system needed to ensure high reliability, supporting both current industrial load requirements and future expansion of renewable capacity.

ZETATECH Solution

To address these requirements, ZETATECH delivered a fully integrated, high-density grid-connected BESS solution tailored for C&I applications. By shifting specific hardware tallies to the configuration overview, the solution architecture focuses on engineering excellence:

Modular Battery Deployment: Utilizes the flagship ZetaCube series to provide high-safety, scalable energy storage capacity with optimized thermal management.

High-Density Power Integration: Employs centralized electrical cabinets with modular PCS integration to optimize footprint, simplify on-site installation, and ensure precise power dispatch.

Advanced Multi-Inverter Interoperability: Implements intelligent control algorithms to achieve seamless communication and coordinated EMS dispatch with existing Huawei and Sungrow PV inverters.

Streamlined Grid-Tied Design: Tailored for pure grid-connected operations to prioritize efficient market-driven energy trading and peak shaving.

Note: STS (Static Transfer Switch) and MPPT modules are available as optional customized configurations for off-grid or direct DC-coupling needs.
